Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has been voted the
Germany national team’s player of 2013. The 25-year-old playmaker has now
received the accolade for the third year in a row – one in which he made 17
assists, more than any other player in Europe’s top leagues. Ozil topped the
poll of supporters with 30.4% of the vote, beating Bayern Munich’s Philip Lahm
and Thomas Muller into second and third place respectively. Since joining the
Gunners this year, from Real Madrid, Ozil has made 15 appearances for the north
London side and scored four goals. "Many thanks to the wonderful fans of
the German national team," he told the club’s website. "I’m really
proud of this vote. I’m looking forward to doing my best for my country in
2014.” |
